I find powder coating useful in area's that are liable to chip or wear, footrests and racks, mudguard stay's and stands as well.
My powder coater does his own blasting, is a bike rider and has been in business for 20 years that I know of.

Ken Macintosh powder coats his machines. His bikes are not stay at home items.

Powder coating like all paint is only as good as the person putting it on. Blanket statements about things tend to be miss leading in my experience.

Both paint and powder coating give excellent results, there is a lot more preparation work with painting which I do all of my own, whereas parts for powder coating can be sand blasted and coated in the one place. I prefer the finish of paint better and the fact that if something goes wrong for whatever reason, I can quickly paint strip the paint off and do it again quite quickly.........That is not so easy with powder coating, plus I prefer the originality of painting, even though my stock of Pinchin' Johnson's best stove enamel ran out years ago................:)
