Essential Reading

Much has been written about Vincent and H.R.D. Motorcycles over the years, and there are many, many books that are considered 'essential reading' for any prospective owner.

There follows a list of books that our Members have suggested grouped together in two categories - History and Maintenance. If you think we've missed a book that you consider should be in the list, then please do get in touch.

If you're interested in the history of Vincents, then a good book to start out with would probably be Original Vincent Motorcycle by J.P. Bickerstaff or maybe Vincent Vee Twins by Roy Harper. Both are excellent reads.

If you're already an owner of a bike and you're looking for something to help with maintenance or rebuilding, then the widely accepted 'bibles' are The Rider's Handbook which was given to owners when they purchased their bikes from new, the Vincent H.R.D. Owners Club's Alternative Spares List, and The "Instruction Sheets" which were revised and edited by the Club's long-serving draftsman, Frank Griffin.
