Vincent, On your avatar, who is the man kissing you?
I would not say Paul was wrong, Just the looks !, But I have been known to do some strange things to Vin's.Bill, I have never seen Paul with a pillion passenger, so most of the weight the seat is carrying is at the front mounts, I can't help but feel that with the suspension on full bump with moderately heavy pillion passenger, that something might give/collapse.
Morning Vincent, Any chance of selling us a set, Or do they have to be done to each seat stay. Cheers Bill.I have drilled them and put in a POM (Acetal) bearing, first locked them up with piece of alu.View attachment 20640
It was that worry and the post last month showing the snapped front seat stays that prompted me to add the right angled stays to my seat support see picture above #16 (the connection to the front suspension bolt is made with a spherical union eye bolt as the tube comes in at an angle )with that fitted plus the new front fork geometry, avon dampers (coil over rear) and a 'big seat' that is 4" longer (from the spares company)it should make for a comfortable ride for TBPPINW (for those who remember moose brained Smith)Bill, I have never seen Paul with a pillion passenger, so most of the weight the seat is carrying is at the front mounts, I can't help but feel that with the suspension on full bump with moderately heavy pillion passenger, that something might give/collapse.
I was showing you what Peter said No' 23, I know the mod you say, The Late Pat Cole from Portsmouth had them for as long as I can remember, A big lump of a thing, I was going to do the same, But lost my way !!, As I do !. Cheers Bill.Doesn't look like you know the mod I was referring to. It used struts like the originals but the long shank section had what appears to be like a small shock absorber or inner and outer tubular sleeves like the rear spring boxes only way smaller and perhaps with a stiff spring on the inside. Like small suspension units to absorb some of the downward force. There was a Shadow for sale here in Aussie recently that had a pair of them on the rear.
