Where Are You Now? MFD379 Comet

Looking to see if my Dad's Vincent Comet C is still about. He owned it in the 50's

Love to get a modern picture of it to show my again father and sparks those memories for him.
Perhaps it's even for sale or in bits looking for someone to restore. I'd be interested.

Love to hear anything about its life and whereabouts (if appropriate).

Yes MFD 379 still exists and is owned by a VOC member on this forum. Hopefully they will spot this thread as I have just sent them an email.

Hi Steve,
MFD379 is still alive and well . My Dad bought it from Conways as the 2nd owner (I still have the receipt) when he was around 18. He re-built it in the 80’s, wanting everything to be as original as possible and it won a few awards at rallies before it was forced into retirement due to my Dad’s health. My Mum still owns the bike and my hubby looks after it for her.

Ohh Wow ! Isn't she beautiful ! I'm so pleased it's been so brilliantly looked after. A real tribute to your father and family...

I'm unsure now if my Dad bought it from new, I will try to find that out, he's nearly 90 now.

He's another photo of Dad in his RAF flight jacket having a pose.

I'm guessing my Dad must have bought it around 1957. I'll have to speak to my mum about digging out the paperwork. Meanwhile Steve, if you can get hold of a copy of "Original Vincent Motorcycles" by Jacqueline Bickerstaff the bike is featured in there with photos.

Well done Debbie, I rode with your Dad on Hever and other rallies, always was a superb well looked after Comet and Ray was an incredibly lovely kind Man. ironically MFD is my Fathers initials.

Hi Debbie,

Thank you for the heads up on the book, and again the pictures. I have found a copy and ordered it. Hopefully in time for Christmas.
