The problem ATD pinions made from hygroscopic material were from a batch made by someone about 30 years ago, I had one in my Comet and in the early 1990s (Just after returning from a Winter Dutch Rally) it lost several teeth and distributed them around the engine. There are dozens (if not hundreds) of the black nylon ones in use without problem.

Nylon (polyamide) - or what looks like nylon - may not be the best choice for gears, I´d think POM could be more suitable here. I made these gears from ht alu with attention to minimum backlash. No Lucas mag utilized but Vertex/Ronco mags - a lot of hours spent for that mod.
