Certainly I did it in about 1958 with my first Vin, a Rapide. There was a lot of lost movement with the original set up which was completely cured, at zero cost, by this modification.

Strangely I have one as well and brother Harvey put his one to good use when he went down onto 13" wheels and welded a steel plate across the two forward engine plates raising them up a little level to exhaust pipe then a much longer link rod to gear actuator, with feet facing forward and seat virtually on the spring boxes and touring bars she could be driven for hours, big sectioned tyres improved chain life , doubled it as pressure was only 5 to 10 psi but a puncture was not welcome as the steel plate under the sump left it's mark in the road.
