Len the 12-0-12 were mostly fitted to Velocettes I believe.

Do not get too fixated by "correct". A good friend's father ordered a Rapide in 1948 together with his friend. They picked up their bikes within days of each other and there were many visual and internal differences.

Yep we are talking 1948 hard enough to get a reliable supply of anything 3 years after the war (even coal in the hardest winter in the UK that century I venture) even harder to keep a record of what was fitted
