Hi there Michel, I spoke to Neal yesterday, and he received your message. He will let you know, but I believe he has the 2 different sized brass ferrules in stock.........If not I could get another small batch made for him. Cheers....... Greg.

Hello Greg,
Thanks a lot.
There are two types:
1. Plain brass with coarse knurl.
2. Brass cadmium plated fine knurl.
Which is closest to the original ?
Michel.

The plated ones with fine knurling are the ones I copied from some of the originals that were with the comet I have just finished restoring.......Hopefully fire it up this week, first time run since the 70's I'd say.

Thought you would like to see some of the ferrule I acquired. As you can see they are exactly as taken off the bike back in the 60s. They are not all exactly the same. I hope this information is of help. Also, a picture of a Miller mag end cap just manufactured at home.

Michel,
I would say brass cad with fine (straight) knurl.
I have no proof - except years of looking at Series A machines - including "barn finds".

Why not go to any agricultural workshop and have yr oil lines crimped there for little money? they have a lot of
hydraulics on modern tractors, nowadays.

Its a common misconception that there is presure comparable to hydraulic level pressure in the oil lines of a Vincent, I always used to smile when I saw those silver braided oil lines, thankfully rare nowadays
the pressure exerted by the rotating pump amounts to a few pounds only. I think more oil drops out of the cases by osmosis than pressure.;)

There must be some pressure, Because in the old days we were told not to chrome plate the pipes,
Some had slipped Off !.
Guess who has chrome pipes !. :) .
