I gave my younger daughter a Gold Star Catalina without any paymen. However, with the stipulation that it remain with me until I'm no longer using it. She used it to learn how to ride a classic bike (i.e. choke, tickler, magneto lever, kick starter, drum brakes, ...) vs. having originally learned on a modern bike (fuel injection, electric starter, disc brakes, ...). Based on what she experienced riding the Gold Star, she calls it an "old man magnet," having attracted attention of old men -- you know, like everyone who is reading this post -- at stop signs, stop lights, and the gasoline station.
