As far as I know there were only 17 red Comets built. She has won a lot of awards with that bike and she put a lot more effort into the bike than shows.

Slightly rarer than 17. I Can only find 15 red Comets in the records.

Kind of like Flashes of the 40 built, only 55 have been found ! ;-).

Were any of the 15 of the Red/Black style, where the records would say just mudguards and tank red?

All of the red Comets are just described as red with no mention of black. Also they all appear to have the std size wheels and alloy mudguards.
None of the red Comets are in touring trim which is different to the twins as most red or red/black twins were touring machines.
