So here is my finished look of a Shadow at this time. Hills stand, electric start, correct color scheme, alloy fenders, chrome steel wheels, stainless spokes, 5" speedo, etc.

This picture is not my Shadow, just a good example for what i want for my project.
My Shadow, Dec 21, 2020, is the first posted picture!
Probable add WP suspension.
Will add VSM brakes on front.
Maybe Amal concentrics and filters.
Maybe a Craven rack.
Miller sealed beam.
LED lighting out the rear.
Alton dynamo, Podtronics reg
Shorai battery stuffed in "EXIDE" plastic box
Yes, they are goodlooking, aren´t they?

Small progress today , prepped cylinders and heads for paint.
Used Eastwood Pre Painting Prep to clean surfaces.

Set on van tail in the sun to flash off residual.

Taped the cylinders and heads, which took a while, and then rattle can 2K painted with Eastwood Gloss black hi temp ((650F) engine paint.

finish looks pretty good.
Finned area always is a challenge to cover with spray paint.
I ended up pretty close to spraying directly into the fins, maybe 1/2" away spraying direct to the root areas.

heads fitted with pushrod seals.
torqued to 38ftlbs
fitted with mounts.

In my humble opinion, 38 ftlbs is a bit too much Craig. These heads can distort very easily and if your liners are sung in the crankcase then the studs can push on the liner, causing the piston to pick up at the bottom of the bore. I use 30 ftlbs.

KTB says 40ftlbs on the later solid head bolts, 30ftlbs on the earlier hollow bolts

Martyn is correct in saying that torque figures are not given in the First Edition of KTB, but they are given in the Second Edition, on page 161 as 30 lb.ft. and 40 lb.ft. respectively, and it states that those figures are taken from the Works Instruction Sheets.
