Kerry, If you were stuck, Couldn't you do a job with a "C" Tank ?,
Solder or something a plate over the oil hole ?, With a bit of filler ?.
Just a thought. Cheers Bill.
Hi Bill, I did think of this but the D tank has a larger capacity so I am not sure if it would fit ? if it did the hole could be filled I suppose Kerry.
Yes you would have less petrol, But I like to stop Before 100 miles,
I fitted a "C" tank on a "D" , But can't remember if I had to do anything tricky,
Don't think so.
As far as I can tell the big difference between the earlier and 'D' tanks was that the earlier tanks had the two downwards facing lugs at the rear to stop them fracturing due to vibration. The larger capacity of the 'D; tanks is due to the narrower tunnel to clear the UFM which on a 'D' is a tube and on all the earlier ones is the oil tank as well. Those are much wider than the 'D' UFM so a tank which will clear a B/C will certainly clear a 'D'.
I have used a guy named Kevin who does a very good job at a reasonable price.
He works at a car restoration workshop in Longton (Stoke -on-Trent)
