Hello Moca, the advice by Albervin is very relevant. First the interference fit between the liner and the muff should be about six thou, about 0.015 mm, and that is very important. Larger external diameter liners are available if yours are loose. Please remember that if you do change the liners then it is very easy to get the muffs off the old liners just by putting them into an oven, the right way up and getting them hot. After a while you will hear a clunk as the muff falls down the liner. Replacing is more difficult as it is very important that the liner is held down into the muff while it cools or otherwise the muff pulls down from the flange at the top of the liner and leaves a gap which will slowly close up with use allowing the fit of the liner to the cylinder head to become loose. Secondly the problem with over heating depends a lot upon how you use the bike. If you only tend to ride on the country roads where a good speed can be maintained then there is plenty of cooling. However, if you like to go fast on the open roads and/or often get trapped in heavy traffic where you are not able to move for some time then the extra clearance is a very good idea. Here in the UK we do not have a lot of hot weather and so the Australian experience is very relevant to you. Here people are getting away with the lower clearances but from Albervin's experience it seems that the extra clearance is not causing any problems. Good luck with it.
