stripped oilpump plunger

In 1995 i changed the oilpump complete and after , believe me, 35 seconds later the plunger was ruined. the the parts was bought at the VOC. Mr Tom Townends send me a complete new one after investigation of the returned damaged parts, reason the teeths was not cut deep enough, even he send a new worm drive.(FREE OF CHARGE) after the new oil pump and drive have been fitted, now 14 years ago , i did not have any problem.

I have posted some a photo of the damaged worm.

The new worm is there for comparison. I have also posted a photo of a worm from anothe engine,it may not be very obvious from the photo but the wear on the pump is very localised and uneven.

I also wonder if I can fit it the right way round as the new one does not have 'out' stamped on one end:D

It is now obvious that the outside diameter is very much undersize, with not much wear on the flank. So did you fit a knackered worm, and not as you thought a worn worm ?

It was the worm that was in the engine already,I changed the sleeve and plunger assy because of a sumping problem. When I removed the sleeve it came out in 2 pieces..John
