Before Stirling Moss took up motor racing he was riding horses. I have a program from a B.S.J.A. meet at White City Stadium in 1945 where he and Pat took part, along with my mother. The pony "Brandy" that Pat rode was bought, initially for Stirling, from my grandfather with a proviso from Mrs Moss that it should be easy to ride as Stirling was a quiet lad. About 3 years ago my friend rebuilt a AH Sprite that SM used to race (rally) SM turned up at Goodwood to ride round in it, he came up to the car with his stick, he said he liked the rebuild, sat in the car liked the driving position hit the horn-silence, my friend said he never bothered with a race car SM said "well I need it how else can I get someone in front to move over?"
