Wanted to let members know about the death of a fellow Vincent member, owner, and a fine engineer who has been much lauded on these forums: my brother Simon Linford. Sadly Simon passed away on 13th November.
He stopped working almost 6 years ago when he was diagnosed with lung cancer, but before that he worked on many classic and vintage motorbikes. A search on the forums here finds many quotes about him with countless referrals and praise for the quality of his work and his experience: “time to call in the big guns… Simon Linford of SAS Precision Engineering”.
Over the years Simon owned some beautiful vintage and classic bikes, including Triumphs, BSA’s, Panthers, Sunbeams, a Martinside, Vincents, a Coventry Eagle Flying Eight, Ducatis and Matchless motorcycles.
Simon's funeral will be held in his home village of Meigle (Perthshire) on Friday 27th November. Although the ceremony is private due to the current circumstances, there will be a bikers escort from Dundee to Meigle. It would be lovely to have some Vincent bikes accompany him on his final journey, although other makes and models are also very welcome to join! A photographer is being organised by The Courier Newspaper for publication of an article in their Saturday issue.
Further details are in this public Facebook post:
The family also appreciates your shared stories and photographs of Simon.
With thanks and best wishes to you all.
