G: Gearbox (Twin) Series 'C' Kickstart Shenanigans

The kickstart shaft (G83) in my C series Rapide seems to have a little play between it and the hole it passes through in the case cover. Looking at the drawings this hole doesn't appear to have a bush that can be replaced, is this actually the case? If there isn't a bush has anyone managed to fit one to the case cover, or do any Vincent specialists offer this service? The other issue is the kickstart is also perilously close to the exhaust pipe, not exactly catching it but with the slight play present I fear it could do at some point. Is there a fix for this, a slightly longer G83 shaft would be optimum but does such a thing exist?

There should be an Olite bush there. Someone could have replaced it with a bronze one but if there is no bush there then make or buy the correct part and fit it. If that does not stop the kickstart lever fouling the exhaust pipe then extended shafts are available that allow you to move the kick starter lever outwards but you might not need it. It is a well known problem but the lack of a bush is causing damage both inside and possibly outside the cover. Check the inside bush as well.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I haven't stripped mine yet so I assume there is a worn bush still in there, what I couldn't see was the part in the exploded diagram in the spares shop? It shows a G84 bush (which I thought went on the far end of the kickstart shaft), then the shaft G83 and the spacer G86, but I couldn't work out where the bush was for the cover (G1). I see there is a bush G84 and a 2thou oversize bush G84OS in the parts list, but I presumed they went on the far end of the kickstart shaft, however looking at it again I think they must fit in the cover!

This is the bush as shown on Vincent Spares site. Years ago I have seen the bush in cast iron which I think perhaps is not a bad idea
