Hi Squiggles, small world isn't it? I must have met your father as I was there the day that Ian Ashwell died. The Speed Trials did not stop but the course was shortened, not after the events with your father and Ian but a few years later when someone just kept on going at the end of the kilometer and was killed at high speed after the end of the track.

Interesting way to lace the rim onto the brake drum. Something weird going on with the mag drive too. Does it still exist?

The guy Sprinting the series A Twin in the Brighton Area was Les Fields. Speedways was a motorcycle shop. It was in I think an Ariel Frame. Bill Lawless bought it and I tried to mend the motor but suddenly Bill sold it. I have no idea who to.
Les then built a sprinter around a V8 car engine and on a first run at The Brighton Speed Trials managed to demolish a bus stop after it veered left off the start line.
