sometimes things can be different and the same!
A worn (or even a home tapped) 1/4 whitworth hole (and we know where lots of those are!) and 1/4 unc screw would take a good man to see the difference 55degrees to 60 degrees and a pointed or flattened top .... in 70 year old aluminium

I'm not sure whether a 9/16 NF is the same as a 9/16 UNF but if it is then there are several other threads on a Vincent the same. Rear stand pivots, 'D' centre stand pivots, cylinder head bolts etc.

9/16 NF is Is what I had to hand for a tap. NF has 18 TPI

. The 9/16 threads on Vincents have 20 TPI.
