That is very sad news: warm-hearted, funny and generous man. Bob gave me my first ride at the controls of a Vincent - clumsily steering his outfit around a rally field somewhere in the 70s until we got told off. RIP Bob.

Peter found this photograph of the late Bob Butler at the Nürburgring Elephant Rally, Germany around 1969/1970.

Sad news indeed, the world is a poorer place for not having a Bob Butler in it.
Bob was one of the first Vin 'real riders' that I encountered, later on when my twin was misbehaving early he just suggested that I 'hop in' (to his sidecar) as he was also going to the German Rally.
An absolute giant of a small man.
Woddo mate, see you later!

Friends of Bob Butler will be saddened to know that he passed away overnight in a nursing home in Nuriootpa, South Australia. Bob was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. We will all have great memories & laughs with "The Overgrown Garden Gnome". His accent & stutter made any story hilarious. RIP Bob.
Dear Bob - a lovely man, full of fun. A sad loss for the Club JillyF
