low temp alu solder, and while hot you stir with a scharp metal into the melt, (no oxigen then) to get a good hold. works really fine.
(at nearly any autojumble available)

Unless the aluminum solders have improved out of all recognition (which would probably involve a re think of aluminum chemistry) , or your workshop has an argon atmosphere and the head can be proven clean of absorbed oil, its a poor proceedure. I don't think I would want soldered blobs from the repair uncrusting themselves inside my engine. Get it properly welded. Aluminium solder IMHO is like making a caburettor flange gasket out of pitza dough, it can be done but it would always be a worry.
