I would ask what the bearing is inside the BTH unit and if it is strong enough then it would be a good idea. You can always lighten the gear by thinning the flange and drilling holes in it.
The original BT-H magnetos had a cup and cone type ball race with a fibre insulator (paper?). The new BT-H magnetos have pretty robust ball journal bearings and is a rotating magnet unit so the bearings don't need to be insulated.
