Hello,
Have just put a few miles on this bike, it charges hard on start up but drops to about 2 amps in a short distance.
So the new battery has helped. Will use as is for the moment, and let you know how it progresses.
Thanks to all for input.
Regards John.

Rod Farr noticed that his ammeter charge increased when he put the brakes on. We worked out that as the demand for an extra 21 watts was direct from the battery without passing through the ammeter the discharge didn't show but the regulators response in increasing output to balance the load on the battery did show.
If you are showing a 2amp charge when you would assume the battery to be fully charged, could this power be compensating for some direct load on the battery which is not drawn through the ammeter?

Hello,
yes I suppose that the lamp load would in effect lower the battery impedance, and voltage, and allow the dynamo to push more current.
In my case it is happening continuously. Next winter I will replace the Gardener unit with something more up to date.

Regards John.
