E: Engine ET122/1S Valve Seal Carriers

Is it necessary to remove the ET122/1S guide seal carriers if all one wants to do is remove the dinky ET44 rubber seals and replace them with new? Can it be done by just 'hooking' the old ET44 seals out and wiggiling new ones into place???

That's how i was told to fit the seals when i had my head done, and a good dollop of oil on them before inserting the valves.John
