I have today been informed that Derek Peters passed away last week. He was in his mid-eighties, and had suffered from heart trouble for some years.

He was a member of the VOC from the 1950's, and served the club as Assistant Editor of MPH in 1966, then as Editor 1967, 1968 and 1969.

He spent a career in the police force, and retired as an Inspector. He rode a Series D Black Prince, and later built a replica Series D Comet, not as easy a job as one might think. He supported the Sussex Section, and the VOC. He rode motorcycles up to 80, but had to give up with advancing years; he called me to collect his complete set of MPHs and donated them to the new club HQ library.

His funeral will be held at the Surrey and Sussex Crematorium, Balcombe Road, Crawley RH10 3NQ on Tuesday 4th April at 11:45.

RIP Derek.
