Clever Trevor's statement is further bourn out by the relief on the inside of the tank mounts, so that there is not a sharp edge against the rubber. It so happens that the securing washer on the outside of the rubber, is just smaller than the rubber itself, enabling good loading against the rubber whilst not touching the metal of the tank when tight. I always used to mount the tank without the rubbers in situ, apply a little silicone grease to the inner face, slip them in to position from below at around 5 o'clock and gently slide the tank rearward to the correct position, locate the bolts then insert the rear bolts and tighten, and then do up the front items, hence no strain at the front. How many of you have filed eccentric holes in these items, so as to raise the tank to clear sidecar fittings!! Cheers, ET43
