A visitor to the VOC stand at VMCC Founders day asked us if we knew anything about a Comet his father sold in 1971. The DVLA shows it taxed until 1984, I just wondered if anyone still has it in their shed or knows anything I can pass on? Thanks in advance, Mike Dempster

The late George Spence wrote at length in MPH about The Coalminer's Comet.

I remember the registration being GAYxxx, but I don't remember the other part.

I'm sure @Simon Dinsdale or @Jonathan Lambley will be able to tell us.
The Coalminers Comet article by George was in MPH 398 March 1982 and as rightly pointed out above was GAY 980. The article was then repeated in MPH 830 March 2018.
