If you are going to stroke the engine why not bore also, this one for my Egli Comet is 100x90, 636cc.I already have a 6mm short conrod, Who would supply Comet Flywheels to match ?.
I think I am about to begger up a Pair of Flywheels !, So may be in need of same, Could build it as a 500 cc, But set my heart on 560 cc, Getting too fat, So need more Power !. Cheers Bill.

Do have to admit the big Comet was built from the engine which was supposed to be the "test bed" engine so we could use it in a wheeled dolly to test components on a dyno. It has the spare fully ported rear head and a short Carillo rod ,also an Aluminium cylinder liner with the Aptec ceramic coated bore.I thought about it, But I have read about too many blow ups, with the big pistons + the cost of them.
I don't have a milling machine, Or the spare cash, So I am a Standard ish man now !.

Thing did get easier later but I think we got good value for the efforts involved. Once the effectiveness of any modified parts was proven Ian was able to have them manufactured, produced or procured in sensible volumes to resell to offset the cost of the racing programme and get away from continual expensive one off components.Ian and you ? Did throw a lot of money at your bikes, I did things on a shoe string !, But still had fun.

Other way on ,100 stroke 90 bore so no issues with the studs. The flat top JE pistons have a flat circumferential squish band which matches to the one machined into the head, the ring pack is low enough to permit the piston skirt to come fractionally above the liner at tdc. The biggest bore useable without modified studs is 92mm. Ian's 94 bore race engine (1250cc) has modified studs but retains the original spacing.With a 100 mm bore, what do you do about the holes in the crankcase and the holes through the cylinder muff? I know what to do with the cylinder head itself. You get a very nice squish band with a 100 mm bore and could use a flat topped piston if you have a TP head. Did it all work for you?
