Yesss, Vincent, like these gussets. I think I had two more up to the brake shoe bolts as brake forces go into these as well - but I am no engineer to tell . . . .

Here is a neat job from my spares cupboard

I think that gusset is probably the best, but the whole plate is too flexible and the pivot pins bend too easily. The racing plates work well.
