At 8:18, the rear sprocket is going on. I am always concerned about cutting the seals inside on the splines and similarly insert the shoe carrier right away. I have wondered if that is really much of a risk with a gentle touch and if so, do engine builders make a tube to slip over the shaft to protect the seals.

This one does, just slightly undersized for the seal dia. Holds everything in place until the shoe carrier is ready to be inserted.

I think it is buried somewhere at the moment Bruce, so you get the 1000 words.
Steel tubing turned slightly under size I think .010 under 1.500 and polished, about 2 inches long with a nice chamfer on the end, and polished . ID a nice slip fit over the main shaft.
A little oil for the seal and slip it in.
