The old one pushed out without too much fuss, and I used the pillar drill to push the new one in square.

The really fiddly bit was to get the wire back in through the pins, perhaps I should have got a new wire. Why did Vincents use this retaining method, why not just put heads on the pins?

Try cutting the wire into 3 = pieces, start the pins in the carrier hole, then push the wire through them. Mike

It's been a while since I fiddled with this wire but I'm pretty sure I just threaded the wire through all the pins first and then pushed the lot into place.
