Hi, I've got a Series C Rapide and have just changed the oil filter. Quick question. Does the oil flow to the engine from the outside of the filter to the inside or is it the other way around? Thanks

There is a slot on the case at the very end of the front of the oil pump that pushes oil into the filter chamber. So, any debris should build up on the outside of the filter. If the filter becomes clogged, there is a bypass valve on the end of the spring in the oil chamber cap that will allow oil to keep flowing if the filter is clogged. The oil travels into the center of the filter and out to the engine via the long banjo bolt on the timing chest cover. The cover feeds filtered oil to the crank, cams, and piston skirts.

The rear end of the oil pump pulls unfiltered oil from the sump and pushes it to the rockers and then back to the oil tank in the UFM.
