Both Simon Dinsdale (machine registrar) and myself are regularly contacted by previous owners, or by families of deceased owners, asking if a certain Vincent is still around. This is great, as we can usually oblige them and it gives us the chance to gather more information about a machine. However we regularly draw a blank due to lack of ownership details on the VOC machine database. This is mainly due to owners over the years, not keeping us informed about what bikes they own or sell.
Believe it or not, we still get machines that turn up, that we have never heard of since it left the Vincent factory. Unbelievable really.
Now we understand there are a lot of owners out there that are not club members, that some club members are understandably very reluctant to share information, and that people simply forget to update us, but it is vital that owners keep us informed of bikes they buy or sell. By doing that, it helps us spot the scammers, fraudsters and dishonest people who are out there, but it also helps us protect you and your Vincent.
