F: Frame FT5 in alloy

Thoughts on the pivot bearing plate FT5 on LH crankcase side in good quality alloy ?
it would not have a footrest support 'ear' and is for racing I guess someone has done it on an egli this is for a standard framed racer

I can't say I've seen an alloy FT5 used myself but the FT33 spindle is supported at the other end by the G50 plate without problems and that is alloy. Both plates bolt to a very sturdy crankcase. Why did the two Phils choose steel for the FT5, maybe paring a little cost rather than weight on a part that is not too visible?
