Looking to stiffen up the rear end for racer. Makes sense to me, am I missing anything?

Steel is about 3 times stiffer than aluminium.

I fixed the evil handling of my TTR by replacing the alloy plates with the original steel.

A small perpendicular rib welded along the narrow flexi part of the plate could help although I didn't need to try that. But I don't race it.

I agree with that have plans to increase the tube spacer between the eng/trans with a larger block of alloy bolted in as It needs to be removable for service. perhaps in a L shape, stiffen up the whole area? If all that fails I'd go back to steel.

There’s a picture somewhere of the two steel plates linked together to form a box which must be more rigid. I’ll see if I can find it if you haven’t already got it.
