Avo shocks are too weak! Sorry, couldn't resist it, but they have been "two weeks" from being manufactured for quite a few months now.

I take it you are referring the batch of AVO front shocks for the Girdraulic mod? That is not my experience of AVO, but they may have been caught out by the batch order for 20+. They have usually quoted me 3 weeks and often beaten that. However the units they make for "C" series bikes are quite special, part hand made, more so than a D unit is likely to be as it is more "modern" . Some items and processes are outsourced, so they may be held up by a supplier. As I understand it they work to a 3 week batch system, so it also depends when you order. To be fair, they are usually very flexible and helpful, in spite of the fact that our business is low volume and value for them compared to the competition car side of their business.

As the person who ordered the "20+" units I can say that the delay was unfortunate but I came to realise that they are making these dampers as specials. Their normal output seems to be for cars and so Hadronuk did a good job in getting them interested in developing something for our bikes. I have also found them very helpful in being prepared to supply units for testing purposes. The dampers have now arrived and are starting to be sent out this week. However, with well over twenty orders to check, pack and then send it is going to take at least a couple of weeks. Note that it is not just the dampers which are being sent out but also steering heads, springs, modified lower links and steering damper kits. It is keeping me out of mischief.

I have spoken to Nigel, the MD of AVO and he accepts build times have slipped.
This is because there is a surge in demand at this time of year and it has been larger than usual.
He expects to get back to shorter lead times and will build in bigger batches.

1 week now. I rang AVO this morning and they are processing through the line and are now in the paint shop.
They have always been more than pleasant and helpful on the phone and I gather that they are a quirky job for them, so no complaints especially considering the bang for the buck.
