With a magnetic cable the end of the inner cable that goes into the speedo head is too long so when the nut is tightened the inner cable will damage the delicate needle mechanism. The damage will not affect the odometer. How are they different?
From memory the end of the inner cable that project into the head must not exceed 7/16" for a chrono speedo. It's sensibly longer on a magnetic speedo cable.
I think there was a warning sticker on the back of instruments repaired by the Woods and others.
