H: Hubs, Wheels and Tyres Brake Light Switch on a Series ‘D’

When I mounted Mr. Speet's front brakes, I didn't go to the trouble of trying to retain the balance beam. I'd like to but too many projects... So since my D Rapide had the D-style balance-bean-actuated switch, I had to find another solution for that. In my first attempt, I made up a little arm mounted under the rear brake arm nut and another arm clamped to the cable. The switch I used was from a hydraulic front brake, which is the "normally closed" type. I mounted that on one of the arms so its button was pressed in when the brake was not deployed. It worked, but I had to frequently fiddle with it and move the cable-mounted arm after adjusting the rear chain. Then one day, the little button broke.

So after some pondering, here's what I came up with. It's not elegant but has the advantage of being entirely reversible. I am averse to cutting and welding modifications unless they are necessary repairs.

It's not complete. I still need to give the little bracket a bit of a bend and the wires need to neatened up.

By the way. What's the original function for the rearward cable perch?

Reward perch is for after the owner removed the footrest and reversed the brake pedal in the hanger using the pillion footrests for clubman RACING (that was an activity that was very common before the damm things got so expensive)
