PR: Proprietary Items walkernator control

is this a good regulator for a walkernator?

or is there a better item?

I ask because I am still getting grief from my rusty BTH on kick start but when I start it on rollers it runs smoothly down to tickover so I am thinking of coil ignition however if I test the walkernator output from the stud on the alternator (still connected to the battery) I see 18 or 19 volts on a blip of the throttle and as its not the first time I have fried the cyclon batteries with this walkernator on my old Comet this is a new regulator I bought just in case the old one was the culprit and its also a rewire. I am a bit stuck as to how to proceed
Oh dear the annual rally is not far away..

No technical info on the website so it might or might not work. It doesn't say anything about it being suitable for a 2CV so unless somebody on here has used one and says yay or nay it will cost you around £20.00 to find out with VAT and postage. You might be better off buying a new genuine one or have a look on ebay for a cheap 2CV alternative or good s/hand 2CV unit.
Are you sure that the magneto is the problem as you say "it runs smoothly down to tickover" once you have started it on the rollers?

I have used that kind of controller on my Walker alternator fitted twin for many years now, with no trouble, its a true fit and fore get piece of gear. I would also recommend a hawker battery.

Tim, let the engine run for a minute or two to bring the battery volts up. You will always get a high charge rate at start up until the battery volts are up to 14. 3 and a bit. You will not fry a battery if the regulator is wired up correctly.

Thanks for the assurance it is a new regulator fingers crossed it's just for lights I have no real enthusiasm for coil ignition just a longer string of things to go wrong
