Great period photo just appeared on Facebook with the following caption:

My father and mother on what my father always called ”the HRD” sometime just after the War. The DVLA has no record so I think the bike is long gone. But if anyone knows differently I’d be delighted to know. It’s a 1936 Meteor and broke the conrod big end eye sometime during the War. My father welded the conrod up ground it out and replaced the rollers with a floating bush as he explained to me “Like a Royal Enfield” simply because he couldn’t get the rollers during the War. New big end pin too. I still have the spares he made at the time. Pays to be an engineer.... WS 5313.

The same photo was printed in MPH 670 pg10 (Nov 2004) in a Where are you now article. The article was repeated in MPH 787 pg 7 (April 2014). Unfortunately nothing has surfaced and as we don't know what engine or frame number was associated with WS 5313 then I cannot search using those.

I haven't damaged my connecting rod but did replace the rollers with a floating bush and increased the oil supply by half as much again by deepening the pump housing by1/16" and making a set of 3/16" wide gear wheels. Bought the engine in 1966 or 7 from Norfolk Tony Fox-Male
bananaman.
PIN GROUND & POLISHED, BUSH GROOVED AND HERRING BONE SLOTS NEARLY TO THE EDGE (DIDN'T ANT TO LOOSE PRESSURE) 0.001" FEELER GAUGE IN & OUTSIDE OF BUSH.

PUMP BODY COCKED UP BY DRILLING 1/8" SO HAD TO FIT A BRONZE PLATE, NOT YET TRIED BUT READY TO START.
