I don't know if I dare reply to Clevtrev. I know, I'll put it tremulously.

"In the strange otherworld of Miller doesn't the 7" refer to the headlamp shell whereas inconsistently the 8" refers to the light unit?"

Just about to start a rewire of my 54 Comet wiring is not a strong point of mine. I have all the bits to make the old girl 12v and in addition a cut out switch all a little confusing really and have just been told that I will need a new dip switch mine is presently bakerlite and cracked can I get a similar one, the separate horn button is chrome, which side should these switches be on I am told variously that the dip should be on the left and not the right.

Yes it was a surprise to be told that the switch was in the wrong place. I suppose that a combination dip/horn is the way to go today. the wiring will then be in one place. mine must have been where they are now for at least 30 years but the Bakelite is now corroded and split.
