What about "B"s

I have just tried to order a handful of parts for my Bramptons. The VOCS has less than 50% & am I still waiting for a reply from Russell. They can build a new "C" but a few thrust washers & screws is beyond them. Come on guys, this is not rocket science but for a person without a lathe it is hard. So what parts can't I get?? FT235 x 2,FT224 x 1,FT234 x 4 &
FT236 x 4. I CAN get a modified spring over damper for it though!

Brampton Forks

I also put the same message on JTAN;

Ray Daniels, Unit 3, Stechford Trading Estate, Lyndon Road, Birmingham, B33
8BU (UK) made a quite o lot of complete Brampton forks a few years ago. He
used to advertise in MPH.

He specialises in girder forks of all makes and occasionally has a stall at
autojumbles. UK number is 021 789 8900 (you need to put a 0044 in somewhere
if dialling in from outside the UK).

I bet he still has some spares but I imagine he will not easily recognise
Vincent part numbers.

Has anyone else had recent experience buying parts from Ray Daniels?

Up date.

Alyn,
I can see by your posting on jtan that you are not happy with the lack of replies that you had to your question (note that I emailed you back Friday night) so lets see if this puts a smile back on your face.
It is not a case of 'rocket science' but a case of cost & demand. I have talked to my supplier this morning and can get the washers that you are after made at a cost to you of £1.00 each but I need to order 100 of each part #.
I think you wanted 4 of each so you can see that I need a few more orders before I get any made.

I knew there was a supply & demand issue but what I really wanted to know was what the hell these parts were, i.e. dimensions. There is nothing in KTB or any other book I have that sets out what these "simple washers" really are. Russell, I appreciate your input, & those who were also constructive (not Metcalf!!??) in this matter. I have had some really good information & maybe able to get a one off job done for not too much dosh. Some of you have actually offered to make some for me, greatly appreciated.
It all started at the International when the front end started to develop a bit of a weave at exactly 34 mph. The solution was to go faster but around town it was most annoying that the traffic tended to travel at 34 mph!!
The problem turned out to be the bottom link bushes & that led to all the other issues, including the forks being 3/32" out of true. As I have been happily cruising at 80 mph + I am not going to go to the time & expense to straighten them.

You are right, I had over 15 replies on & off list on JTAN. I never intended to have people offer to make the parts for me, just supply info. It now appears the VOCS MAY look into the matter as the poor old "B" has taken a back seat to the Shadow project.

Brampton Washers

I've never had B Bramptons and I haven't got round to restoring the 'A' ones yet. But looking at MO30, I have to ask the question; is it really essential that these washers are hardened thrust washers? Good quality plain flat washers should surely do the trick in the places indicated by Alyn's part numbers? Even if they do need replacing every few thousand miles.

I'll bet there are scores of Bramptons out there doing sterling service with un-hardened plain washers....

That said, non of this detracts from the real need to have a batch of 'proper' items available, in due course, for Bramptons.
