What is a Firefly worth please, I have been offered one in a frame but not an original frame, no V5 average condition, also I am being offered an Amanda engine but no idea on that either.
Thanks Kerry.

Don't know the value, but if the Firefly has no V5C then please beware that they are extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to register with DVLA today as they require a frame number that can be dated and most push bikes frames have no number and when they occasionally do have then nobody has the capability of dating the year of manufacture. The VOC have no records or info as to Firefly numbers.

The EACC will date and help get a V5 on Firefly's and similar, they are V765 DVLA approved extremely helpful too, also they are mostly run by Volunteer's and is a non profit organisation, As Guy stated most bikes do have a frame number, Our Simon is very helpful but if unable to help on Firefly's at least it's not impossible ? There is plenty of fifties push bikes for sale around, maybe we need to look for one recognised as 50's and choose with a frame number, Kerry.

Hi Kerry, I have a complete and useable Raleigh Superb Gents Pushbike from the 50s. It has rod-pull brakes so is period. Lights and a dynamo in the front wheel and a 4 speed Sturmey Archer rear hub.

In fact, bicycles do have frame numbers. Sometimes you can work out the date of manufacture by inspection, as there may be a month / year stamping. In other examples, a marque specialist may have factory data and be able to give a date of manufacture. From the frame number of my Claud Butler Londoner, the Veteran-Cycle Club marque specialist gave me the date April 1985, not long before cessation of manufacture by the Holdsworthy Group.

Further to my post showing my Raleigh Superb circa 1953 push bike. I have fitted new tyres and brake blocks and actually tried to ride it after many years and realised I am just too old to start again. So if anyone is interested please make me an offer to cover the above and its yours. I could deliver locally. Contact me via the forum direct.
Cheers Roy
