I think this would be friend Tom Mellor who has run 210 MPH at Bonneville on a 750 Trident, and has just put together his first Vincent "with a little help from his friends". I'm guessing the 240 is what he would like to do on the Trident.

Didn't he bump up his displacement, and runs the Trident in the 1000cc classes?

Firstly My mistake, 240 is his racing number.

Last time I asked him I was sure he said that it was a 750 still. Last years blown up engine had to get moved to make room for the Vincent build!

this is a link to an old web page

He has records in the 1000cc classes. I don’t think they let you run in a higher class without actually exceeding the size of the lower engine class, but maybe that is a car rule set by the SCTA, and the bike rules set by the AMA allow it.

Edit - I just looked it up. AMA rules say you cannot enter a higher engine class if your actual displacement falls under the max displacement of a lower class.

Is Tom building a Vincent for the salt? If so, it will be interesting to see how Tom does, along with Alp.
