Recommissioning a '48 Rapide

Gents, New to me 49 build Series B (2501). 1:2 throttle cables hard as a rock. Replaced with a dual cable twist grip with new VOC cables and new carbs (thank you Coventry). (Keeping the original for sure) and I can't tell you how thrilled I am to ride this bike. Amazing difference. Quite and slight on the idle and a HUGE beast on the throttle and seems to have reach I have never found prior. I pure test would have been to not change the carbs but, don't see an argument for the kludgy 1:2 splitter and especially in light of the "afterthought" Mr Vincent gave to cable routing
