Hi Graham,
I'd forgotten we had to register in order to read any threads, so you are absolutely correct as far as this forum is concerned. ;)
However, that isn't the case for most other forums, where you can read the threads without registering.
Regards,
Paul

As a suggestion for the VOC spares volunteers on the problem of spam emails it maybe an idea for all members to title there correspondence to the company as "VOC spares order" all other email which are spam ie Viagra ,singles dating etc can be deleted straight away.

Even easier is to order via the website. The whole process is done and dusted in about 5 minutes, and when you get confirmation that your credit card has been accepted, you KNOW that the order has gone through. Sending emails seems to me rather like shouting down a well. Someone MAY have heard, but you aren't going to know until the results fail to appear. Then one "knows for certain" that either the order didn't go through, or it's been lost in the post, or...
I'm open to correction, but if one has email, one must have internet, so where's the problem? It must also keep costs down, because so far as i can see (same applies to VinParts) the process is automated.

Spam

I have a spam filter built in to Tiscali email, but some still gets through. What is needed is a positive attitude: email must be seen as work you have to get through. Spam needs only to be identified, marked, then deleted in one fell swoop. Voila!! Your work load is suddenly dramatically reduced...

Anti spam not vincent

I have used the free application that can be downloaded at http://www.mailwasher.net/ for several years. It works well for me. Basically it gives you the capability of bouncing and deleting the offending spam without down loading it and messing up your own computer.

Additionally you can black list anything you do not like and the system deals with it......my emphasis is that it is free. I hate spending money on software applications!!

Hope this helps

Tom, The orders I had trouble with WERE created through the web-site. I got confirmation of the order. After several weeks I emailed via the automated contact and got no response. This went on for several weeks.
The upside is now I have had contact from Ian and it looks like everything will be sorted. I just hope the order gets processed before the weekend when The all blacks give another lesson on running rugby to England. Phil.

I have found that my broadband provider "Orange" webmail takes out 90% of the crap before it passes the e-mails to my Outlook page. It allows you to filter spam by selecting key words such as viagra, Watches, members as in male genitalia, ect. It works quite wel for me. On average I can get 5>600 every couple of days, you can go on the webmail site and read through them because sometimes there are company e-mails that your waiting for that get put in the crap bin.
