VOC Exact Name?

Pedant's Corner.
What is the exact name of the VOC?
No, I don't mean Vespas, Velocettes etc.
Just found my copy of the VOC Rules Oct 2000.
The title Heading is
VINCENT - H.R.D. OWNER'S CLUB RULES
BUT this is contradicted by the first rule, which follows:
"Section 1. Name
The name of the Club shall be the Vincent-HRD Owner's Club."

Of course, it may have changed since 2000.

I wonder what it was originally in 1948?

Just in case it is not obvious, the points of variation include:
The dash between Vincent and HRD
HRD vs H.R.D.
Owners vs Owner's
and so on.
Who cares?

What is the correct name in 2008?

You're right - it does appear that the name of the Club has changed as the years have gone one, but this is something I investigated along with Andrew Everett, when I took over the job of Editor.

From what we found out, the first set of rules stated: The club shall be known as (or words to that effect) "The Vincent H.R.D. Owners Club" (Initial Caps, no hyphen, no apostrophe, and full points between the H, R and D).

As far as I know, the name of the Club has never been changed at an AGM.

Everywhere on this forum and in MPH, the use of "The Vincent H.R.D. Owners Club" should be consistent.

I regret that I quoted the October 2000 Rules incorrectly - I put the apostrophe in the wrong place [twice].
Should have read:

I think if you look the March 2007 rules, it makes the name of the Club quite clear.

I know it's unfashionable to use the apostrophe correctly but it's a nice point whether the club is one particular Owner's Club or whether it is all we Vincent Owners' Club. However it seems this is academic as we now forget all about the little chap (') in our simplified modern world even if to do so is even more wrong!
