If you go to this super museum go and find the superb picture of a young and extremely handsome RAC Road Patrolman posing in his uniform.near an RAC outfit. I happen to know he is as handsome as ever, if a little older (about 57 years older)

Years ago I read an article by an ex AA (or maybe RAC) patrolman. A very good article bringing home the trials and tribulations, and explaining why he wasn't sad to get a Minivan.

It ended something like - Did you ever wonder how the AA bike patrolman got his ruddy complexion? It was because he was out all times of the ruddy day and night, in all ruddy weather fixing ruddy cars!

Now the AA and the RAC have been "tescoed" and have been morphed into yet more commercial insurance profit only organisations rather than the mutual member based competitor based (RAC) organisation they once were. a lot of the understanding is gone. If you have a sidecar outfit beware don't mention the word motorcycle as in "motorcycle and sidecar" or "motorcycle combination" that call center operator has probably never even seen one and you will get a van with a single channel trailer-(don't ask me how I know).
Hyper commercialisation is the scourge of this century -what price the National Motorcycle Museum? if you ask me the VMCC had a lucky escape.

It escapes me, how is this post relevant to the museum thread?

The Lakeland Motor Museum, Blackbarrow, Ulverston, Cumbria, LA12 8TA has a large collection of motor vehicles of all kinds. They have some themed displays including an Isle of Man TT Exhibition and a Campbell Bluebird Exhibition.

They have recently unveiled a collection of five Vincent machines.

Worth a visit next time you are visiting the Lake District.:)

How many of the museum displays are loaners, if any?
