my employment with Vincent started early 1948 my job (gofor) do this do that but at the top of the yard at the Grt North road factory was the high roofed test house where the Life Boat Engine was doing long life test running most the day and night all you hear in the back ground was the howl of the exhaust note. the fuel tank for the engine was on the roof of the test house and the funny side of this the guys in the test house had to carry the fuel up on a out side steel ladder in five gallon cans and they did not get danger money.

Test House! in this same building besides having the Heenan and Froude dynomometer for testing the life boat engine, George, Cliff Brown and Mike Eggerton were working on Gunga Din and the Cadwell Special but they could get there own back by starting the race bikes on the apron in the front of the test House. Did they ear plugs in those days ?
