Vincent Damper Oil

What is the current consensus for the grade of oil to be used in the Vincent Hydraulic damper - 20 grade damper oil or 20/50 multigrade maybe? Anyone tried 10/40 multigrade- maybe semi synthetic would have "anti foaming" properties?

whichever grade is eventually selected make sure a proper damper oil is used as it has more viscosity stability than engine oil and will not foam.

Damper oil

Rebuilt mine last year. Dexron atf has been a total success.

ATF is also anti foam and if you are happy with the damping then the viscosity must be OK too.
